Teams are ordered within each division by points, then points percentage, wins, head-to-head and goal differential. Tags show the current playoff seed, points back of the last wild-card spot, or elimination, all from games played to date.
How NHL Playoff Teams Are Seeded
Teams are ranked by points (two for a win, one for an overtime or shootout loss). The top three in each division qualify and the two best remaining teams in each conference are the wild cards; ties are broken by points percentage, regulation wins, regulation plus overtime wins, total wins, head-to-head points and goal differential.
Every one of the 32 NHL teams listed here has its own page with record, seed, schedule and playoff path, all updated automatically. The playoff picture ranks the same teams by seed, and the bracket shows where they land.
