How MLB Playoff Teams Are Seeded

Each division winner qualifies and takes seeds 1 to 3 in its league by record. The three best remaining teams are wild cards, seeded 4 to 6. Ties are broken by head-to-head, then intradivision, interdivision and second-half intraleague records; there is no Game 163. The top 2 seeds in each league get a bye.

Every one of the 30 MLB playoff teams listed here has its own page with record, seed, schedule and playoff path, all updated automatically. The playoff picture ranks the same teams by seed, and the bracket shows where they land.
